FIRST TO FINISH
The Stark County Rebels Boys and Girls Cross Country teams were at Detweiller Park in Peoria Saturday (September 14) to participated in the First to Finish meet. The Girls ran first. For the first time this year all 9 Girls started the race. Unfortunately, Ashley Orrick had to drop out for precautionary reasons after 2 miles due to rolling her ankle. The Girls team finished 23rd out of 42 full teams. Olivia Frail was the first across the finish line finishing in 37th place with a time of 20:01 good for a medal for being in the Top 50. Paige Rewerts was next at 21:39 (118th) followed by team scorers Josie Price (22:15 - 156th), Trinity Shimmin (23:01 - 208th) and Alyssa Dyken (23:22 - 231st). Non-scorers were Lena Becker (24:04 - 278th), Emily Orrick (25:50 - 359th) and Sarah Fairfield (25:51 - 362nd). Paige and Emily set new PB (personal best time) in the race. Olivia, Josie and Sarah ran SB (season best time) today. The Rebels Boys finished 42nd out of 50 teams in their race. Alex Welch (18:27 - 179th) was first to finish for the Boys followed by Caden Daum (19:39 - 284th), Payton Stahl (19:45 - 290th), Brett Browning (21:58 - 433rd) and Rilley Bowen (22:21 - 451st). Caden and Rilley set new PB while Brett and Alex had SB run. There were 472 finishers in the Girls race from 67 schools. The Boys race had 561 finishers from 71 schools. On a side note, today marked the first race for Emily Orrick since the Farmington Invite last year. Emily has been battling hip problems but felt good enough to run today. It was great seeing her out there. Good job Emily!!!
